  • What is a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN or RD) are healthcare professionals who specialize in food and nutrition. Registered Dietitian Nutritionists have a bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition, have completed extensive supervised practice, passed a national board exam and complete a specific number of continuing education hours every year. Our national license is through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. • What is the different between a Registered Dietitian and a Nutritionist?
Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN- these mean the same) is a nationally recognized and legally protected credential. Nutritionist is not a protected title- anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, there are no requirements. All of our providers are RDs and RDNs so you know you are getting licensed professionals with extensive expertise in nutrition. Our dietitians are additionally all Licensed Dietitians with the State of Texas.
  • How much will my sessions cost?
Many of our patients pay $0 out of pocket through their insurance plans. There are plans that have co-pays and occasionally our services are applied to deductibles if they have not been met for the year. We check insurance benefits for all new patients the Friday before their first session and will pass on any info we get from insurance to you. We also offer self-pay rates of $180 for the initial session and $120 for follow-up sessions.

Yes! We are in-network providers with Blue Cross & Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna and Medicare. We are also willing to work with smaller health insurance companies and health sharing groups on a case by case basis if they cover nutrition services. If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, we would be happy to provide you with a Superbill to file with your insurance for reimbursement. Our Payment & Insurance page can give you more detailed answers.
  • What can I expect at my first appointment?
We put aside a full 75-90 minutes for each new patient at their initial consultation. Our nutrition care is very individualized so we want to have plenty of time to learn all about you and what you are needing. You can expect us to ask lots of questions and take our time getting to know your health history and your current health goals. At that first session, you and your dietitian will discuss the frequency and number of follow-ups that would best meet your needs. Follow-up appointments are 55 minutes and most patients start seeing us every other week. Learn more about our nutrition philosophies and how we approach nutrition care with our patients.
